Parliament sitting today 23rd June, 2020 turns empty seats as a result of the Saturday’s NPP primaries
At the sitting, only twelve (12) Members of Parliament from the Majority and 23 Members of Parliament were present.
However, Speaker of Parliament congratulated the MPs who won their seats and a sorry to those who lost.
He further mentioned that, “an MP lost and that’s why they got the opportunity to be in parliament”.
“Someone lost his seat in parliament for you to become an MP so it’s ok to lose also”, Mr Speaker said.
“Parliament democracy is not perpetual so just understand your lost”, he continued.
In addition, Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu said some members who lost their seats hurt him a lot.
“I am weakened by the likes of Hon. Ben Abdullah and Hon. Mark Asibey Yeboah losing their seats”.
“Also the likes of Hon. Anusah Fuseini and Hon. Mrs Kyere”, he added.
Majority Leader also expressed that their works at parliament is not what delegates consider to vote for them.
” From the look of things, delegates don’t vote for us considering our work in Parliament”.
“To add to that, delegates don’t consider developments handled by committee chairpersons to vote”.
“What exactly does delegates want”, Honourable Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu queried.
