Granny Sarah Onyango Obama, the woman who brought up the man who became the father of the 44th President of the US.
She saidly died at the age of ninety-nine (99) in her country of birth, Kenya.
She died in hospital on Monday morning, and was buried the next day on Tuesday.
Noticeably, she wasn’t shaken that her grandson became the President of a powerful nation in the world.
She never adjusted her identity and personality with the sudden attention in the form of world cameras following world leaders to her village home.
This is what former United States President Obama said about Granny Sarah:
“When I first traveled to Kenya to learn more about my heritage and father, who had passed away by then, it was Granny who served as a bridge to the past, and it was her stories that helped fill a void in my heart.”
Whatever his successes or failures, President Obama deserves a high-five for embracing his blackness when he was brought up by his white m0ther and blàck granny.
Salute Granny, may you rest well!!
